Hi there,
I am in the middle of preparing my 6 months travel in Asia but as I have so many other travels I did before with lots of funny stories I decided I will start writing some to testing my blog. Today I decided to speak about the wedding experience that me and 2 more friends, Joaninha and Te, were lucky to participate in India in February this year.
We were preparing our one month travel to India when we got an invitation coming from nowhere to participate in a Indian Wedding in Goa. We thought the idea amazing in the beginning but after the excitement we start wondering about it and how it was sounding a little strange the situation. We were invited by Deep, a colleague of Te from cruise lines and he said it was an honour for him and his family to have us in his cousin wedding. But we were going to be three girls traveling alone in India that suddenly were going to this wedding where we didn’t know anyone and that made us think… even my brother Hugo was joking about it and how we were going to be the special guests coming out from a cake… Anyway life is too short and who never dreamed of going to a Bollywood wedding? So we took our chances and accepted it.
We arrived in Goa the night before of the wedding and has agreed Deep and his uncle were waiting for us with a van and a million of plans already organized for us. First stop was a fancy store to buy a Sari…are you imagine the situation? three backpackers on this fancy shop, trying to decided what was appropriated to use in a Indian ceremony and escorted by two Indian… In the end we took their advise and we choose some beautiful cloths that we even could not pay, it was a welcome gift Deep said.
Another welcome gift was the hotel that was booked and paid as well this time by Deep’s uncle called Palace of Goa, an amazing place that would be for sure the most luxury place we were going to stay for the full month in India… So again what would you think? for sure the cake was already being prepared for our big entrance next day… Even my friends from my job at the oil rig were always joking about this three Portuguese girls invited and forever gone in India… But jokes apart we could not be more wrong…
We were lucky as well that was Carnaval time and we went out for dinner with Deep after “freshing ourselves” (this was a joke that we had as Deep during the days we spent together in India was constantly telling us to go fresh yourself, meaning go to take a shower, but the way he was saying was always a good laugh) for a supposed quiet night seeing the samba square that ended up in a Goa club with Deep’s friends that was just hilarious as we were probably the only foreigners on that place…
The first night in Goa was just amazing, starting with this wonderful welcome and ending up with this party… The wedding was promising but I will tell you a little bit more on my next post.

See you Around
